Announcing: Cinemar USBIR6 IR Transceiver

Cinemar's new USBIR6 is the easiest means to have MainLobby 3 control virtually any Infrared device. You can now inexpensively control a VCR, an IR DVD changer, DirecTivo units, Receivers, a LCD screen, etc.

Transmit - 6 independent IR output zones are supported. So, if you have 6 equipment locations, each with an identical IR device, you can now send a particular device a control command, without affecting the other devices. This is great for club type installations. The 6 outputs can also be "daisy chained" with the included software so that two or more outputs can send the same IR signal. This reduces the need for an IR expansion module - saving installation cost (almost the cost of the USBIR6!). Supports many IR emitters including Xantech (not included, available from Cinemar).

Receive - Included is an internal jack and sensor that can be mounted in the front of a Home Theater PC case window (or hole - some mounting fabrication required). Just point your handheld IR transmitter towards the PC and you can have MainLobby respond to your remote control. The software allows you to run MainLobby Server commands mapped to the received IR signal providing new found use for your remote control. There is also an external IR input jack for connection to whole house IR transmitters.

Learn - Learning IR commands is easy. Just plug the included IR Learn sensor into the back of the PC and point your IR transmitter to capture it's signal. Remove the sensor when done. The Cinemar software makes it easy to store and name the signal so that a MainLobby button or MainLobby Server automation event can control the device's function.

The USBIR6 installs into a standard PC expansion slot opening for a clean, reliable installation. Unlike other expansion slot IR devices that use the motherboard PCI slot, this one uses an internal USB jack on the motherboard for both signal and power. With PCI motherboard slots being eliminated, this USB version will be supported for years to come. If your motherboard does not have an available USB header jack, order the adapter cable that allows for connection to a standard, external USB female jack (like what is found on a USB hub).

  Dimensions
Occupies one PCI case slot - cannot be installed over motherboard slots that have tall electronic components near the expansion slot. Does NOT use motherboard slot (uses USB 4 pin header on the motherboard).
Internal IR receive wire is long enough for any standard PC case
External IR Learn wire is long enough to reach the front of the PC case when plugged into the rear mini-jack

  Installation Hints:
Install the plugin / driver BEFORE installing the hardware
The Input jack (stereo jack w/ black end - not clear) on the inside of the PC case MUST be connected even if you are not using it
The Learn cable (the one with the clear, small end) can be removed when not being used for Learning
If you are not directly plugging the USBIR6 into an available USB motherboard socket, use the available adapter cable. Make sure to plug in the adapter cable so the colors line up. There will be an extra Black wire left over (normal).
USBIR6 supports many IR emitters including Xantech brand (available from Cinemar)

When to use the USBIR6 vs. other IR solutions:
Use the USBIR6 when you have a need for a very simple, clean, easy installation. The best choice if you have a IR LAN of receivers and emitters, expecially if that LAN needs to support multiple zones.

Use the USB_UIRT when cost is a big factor and when IR devices are local to the PC and there is no need for multi zone support.

Use a Global Cache IR device when IR devices are remotely located from the PC and there is no way to wire an IR LAN, but a PC LAN network exists. Also use a GlobalCache unit for when you also need to have RS232 communication in the same distant location.
