Announcing the MLiPod Plugin for MainLobby

The iPod is the most popular digital audio player in the business. Now, with the MLiPod plugin you can add support for your iPod to your MainLobby automated home. Apple was forward thinking enough to add a very capable RS232 serial connection for bidirectional control and status. This allows the Mainlobby suite to remotely control the receiver and display current working state.

There are a few excellent docking stations for the iPod. The first station supported by MainLobby is Sonance's iPort docking station. With the iPort, you can pass the iPod's audio output directly to your whole house audio system. With the iPort MainLobby software driver, you can bidirectionally control the iPod from your MainLobby touchscreen.

The iPort device driver software comes with a prebuilt MainLobby scene that displays your iPod playlist, the current playing song title, elapsed time and coverart. With it you can navigate your music collection or search by song title with a slide in alpha selection panel.
